THE WATCHTOWER

This project was my introduction to website design, so the goal was to get familiar with the software while also creating a visually interesting and engaging piece about an architectural feat, a work of art, or a designer.

I chose the CCTV Building in China because it resembles something I might design if I were to create skyscrapers. The architect, Rem Koolhaas, creates work that is always polarizing, which is something I admire about him. I appreciate that he does things differently, even if it means he's not always the most well-liked or popular figure in the field.

For the design, I drew inspiration from the jagged structural beams of the building, creating a faint metallic latticework in the background that flows down the page. I also incorporated the jagged shapes of the windows into the images on the page. For the typography, I aimed for a futuristic and bold style.
